Introducing the Waterloo CRC Blog

Waterloo Christian Reformed Church recently started publishing a church blog.  If you are not familiar with blogs, you may be wondering "What are blogs and what are they used for?" or "Why does Waterloo CRC have a blog?".  Hopefully this blog posting will provide some answers to these questions.

What are blogs and what are they used for?

Here is part of what Wikipedia has to say (clink here for the full article):

A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting), which are part of a wider network of social media.

Many individuals and organizations use blogs to share ideas and information. For examples, Bob DeMoor uses his blog to complement ideas published in The Banner.

Why does WCRC have a blog?
The purpose of the Waterloo CRC blog is to share ideas and information related to Waterloo CRC. For example, the Waterloo CRC blog may be used to:

• Publish links to audio recordings of sermons preached at Waterloo CRC, and allow people to post their own comments, questions or feedback about the sermon
• Share information about the many ministries and programs of Waterloo CRC

NOTE: the Waterloo CRC blog is public and may be accessed by anyone, and not only members of Waterloo CRC.

How can I read the Waterloo CRC blog?

There are several ways you can read information added to the Waterloo CRC blog.

• You can access the blog from any internet browser at the following address: http://blog.waterloocrc.org
• You can automatically receive an email copy of all blog postings by clicking here to subscribe (or use the 'Subscribe by email' box found on the blog home page)
• You can subscribe to the blog using a blog reader such as Google Reader.  For more information I recommend reading Getting Started With Google Reader
